How do I get a medical cannabis prescription?
To be authorized to buy medical cannabis from a producer licensed by Health Canada, you need a medical document similar to a prescription. What is the ACMPR (RACFM)?
The Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR), also called RACFM, came into force on August 24, 2016. It sets out guidelines for the production, sale and purchase of medical cannabis in Canada, along with an oversight system for healthcare professionals, patients and licensed producers.
Which medical conditions qualify for medical cannabis?
No official guideline determines or regulates specific prerequisite conditions. A wide range of health issues may qualify under the ACMPR. The first step is always to discuss it with a healthcare professional during a teleconsultation.
Where can I legally buy medical cannabis?
Producers licensed by Health Canada are the only legal source of medical cannabis in the country. The ACMPR and Canadian law prohibit storefronts and physical dispensaries: all sales must be made online or by phone, then delivered by mail.
How much does medical cannabis cost?
Licensed producers are free to set their own prices. Costs generally range from $5 to $15 per gram depending on several factors, including the product and the supplier.
How much medical cannabis can I legally possess?
Under the ACMPR, a person may possess an amount up to 30 times their authorized daily dose, not exceeding 150 grams of dried cannabis.
